100 rero Jrs on a Mission to Bring Robotics and Coding to the Masses - One School at a Time!

Description:

In line with MDEC #mydigitalmaker movement and MOE’s initiatives to transform Malaysian youth from digital users to producers in the digital economy, rero Team will be launching a campaign to introduce robotics and coding to 10,000 students - one school at a time. We will start with 100 schools nationwide.

Free training will be conducted for 1 teacher and 3 student leaders from the participating schools. Each school will then be provided with one rero Jr (rero basic set - free loan for one semester) to continue with the coding lessons and training in preparation for the regional competition in May and national competition in Nov 2017.

rero Team will also visit the schools to conduct coding workshop for 100 students in each participating school. The teachers and student leaders will be involved as facilitators during the workshop.

It is FREE for schools to join this program (training, school visit and competition). However, the schools or teams will have to bear their own travelling costs and other expenses.

Aims and Objectives:

The overall aim of this campaign is to enhance interest in STEM education by introducing robotics and coding to students. Our objectives are as follows:-
1)To provide students with access to robotics kit and education.
2)To provide opportunities for more students to participate in robotics/coding competitions.
3)To introduce robotics and coding to students.
4)To train teachers and student leaders to impact more students.

School Selection:

All schools in Malaysia that fulfill the following requirements are welcomed to apply:-
1) Approval and support from the Principal.
2) One teacher who is willing to coordinate the school visit and manage the team (training + competition).
3) One team (3 students, aged 10-17) to participate in the regional competition.
4) 10-15 PCs or laptops with Windows OS.
